Para prevenir el contagio de la COVID-19, desde hace unos meses la sociedad fabrica sin parar mascarillas higi\u00e9nicas de usar y tirar. Estas mascarillas no homologadas y de uso no quir\u00fargico que utiliza gran parte de la ciudadan\u00eda, est\u00e1n empezando a suponer un grave problema medioambiental.<\/p>\n

A principios de mayo, poco despu\u00e9s del estallido global de la pandemia, Laurent Lombar<\/strong>d, fundador de la ONG Mer Prope<\/strong> film\u00f3 im\u00e1genes durante una inmersi\u00f3n en la que encontraba en el fondo del mar mascarillas faciales y guantes de l\u00e1tex, entre las habituales botellas, bolsas, etc.<\/p>\n

Paralelamente, la organizaci\u00f3n Ocean Asia, encontraba residuos similares en las deshabitadas islas Soko, a tan solo unos kil\u00f3metros de Hong Kong, en China. El activista Gary Stokes asegur\u00f3 que, hasta la fecha, no hab\u00edan encontrado mascarillas en un lugar tan remoto<\/strong>, y alert\u00f3: \u201cCuando las encontramos, tan solo hab\u00edan pasado entre seis y ocho semanas desde que se hubiera extendido su uso en China\u201d.<\/p>\n

M\u00faltiples organizaciones y ONGS llevan ya unos meses denunciando este problema de contaminaci\u00f3n marina bajo un claro lema: \u201cNo m\u00e1s mascarillas que medusas en nuestros oc\u00e9anos\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Este problema no est\u00e1 afectando \u00fanicamente a las zonas marinas y superficies acu\u00e1ticas. El servicio de limpieza municipal de la ciudad de Par\u00eds denunciaba en junio en las redes sociales, como miles de mascarillas hab\u00edan sido abandonadas tambi\u00e9n en tierra,<\/strong> en las aceras de la capital francesa. Lo mismo suced\u00eda en ciudades de toda Europa afectadas por la pandemia: Atenas, Barcelona, Londres, etc.<\/p>\n

Por ese motivo, en algunas de las regiones y zonas m\u00e1s afectadas por la crisis de la COVID-19, las administraciones locales han empezado a establecer multas de hasta 3.000 euros<\/strong> por no depositar en la basura mascarillas y guantes.<\/p>\n
