La\u00a0desertificaci\u00f3n y la subida del nivel del mar\u00a0ser\u00e1n dos de las consecuencias del cambio clim\u00e1tico que m\u00e1s impacto tendr\u00e1n a nivel global a lo largo de este 2023. As\u00ed lo confirma el informe de\u00a0Risk Survey de 2022<\/strong>\u00a0elaborado por la EALDE Business School.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, el Grupo Intergubernamental de Expertos sobre el Cambio Clim\u00e1tico (IPCC)<\/strong>, revela que el nivel del mar ha aumentado entre 13 y 25 cent\u00edmetros entre 1900 y 2018. Los climat\u00f3logos de la ONU aseguran que, aunque consigamos reducir emisiones y mantener un calentamiento global por debajo de 2\u00baC con respecto a los niveles preindustriales,\u00a0el nivel del mar aumentar\u00e1 30 cent\u00edmetros de cara al 2050.<\/p>\n

Por su parte, la\u00a0Organizaci\u00f3n Meteorol\u00f3gica Mundial (OMM)<\/strong>\u00a0de la ONU ha alertado de que el nivel promedio del mar aumentar\u00e1 entre 2 y 3 metros a escala global en los pr\u00f3ximos 2.000 a\u00f1os. En la actualidad, existen alrededor de 900 millones de personas que viven en zonas costeras bajas y, por lo tanto, que podr\u00edan verse afectadas por la subida del nivel del mar los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os.<\/p>\n

Todos estos informes e investigaciones realizadas por estas organizaciones cient\u00edficas y de referencia nos confirman que los pa\u00edses deber\u00edan activar de inmediato medidas de adaptaci\u00f3n para combatir este problema global<\/strong> y acciones para mitigar de manera definitiva el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

Y es que 1 de cada 10 personas del mundo se enfrentar\u00e1n a diferentes problemas debido a la subida del nivel del mar: migraciones clim\u00e1ticas, inseguridad alimentaria y falta de acceso al agua potable, conflictos b\u00e9licos, etc. De hecho, algunas de ellas ya lo est\u00e1n haciendo.<\/p>\n

En la capital de Indonesia, Yakarta, ciudadanos de barrios enteros se han quedado sin hogar debido a las inundaciones. El gobierno de este pa\u00eds ha tenido que trasladar su capital, ahora llamada Nusantara, a la selva de Borne<\/a>o para poder reubicar a gran parte de su poblaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Si seguimos incrementando el calentamiento global de la Tierra, este archipi\u00e9lago podr\u00eda sufrir innumerables p\u00e9rdidas y da\u00f1os medioambientales. Y es que, en el peor de los escenarios posibles, en el 2050 se habr\u00e1n inundado permanentemente alrededor de 833 hect\u00e1reas en Baleares.<\/p>\n

Todo ello debido al aumento del nivel del mar provocado por el cambio clim\u00e1tico que, para esa fecha habr\u00eda crecido entre 18 y 35 cent\u00edmetros.<\/p>\n

Esta es una de las conclusiones del proyecto \u201cCostes pel Canvi<\/strong>\u201d publicado en 2021. Se trata de una iniciativa impulsada por el Sistema d’Observaci\u00f3 i Predicci\u00f3 Costaneres de Balears (ICTS SOCIB) que estuvo cuatro a\u00f1os en activo, y cont\u00f3 con la participaci\u00f3n de los\u00a0investigadores\u00a0de la Universitat de les Illes Balears (UIB) y del Institut Mediterrani d’Estudis Avan\u00e7ats – IMEDEA.<\/p>\n

El mismo estudio mostr\u00f3 que dentro de unas tres d\u00e9cadas, m\u00e1s de 800 personas que viven en las Islas Baleares podr\u00edan verse afectadas por inundaciones provocadas por la subida del nivel del mar. Para el a\u00f1o 2100, la cifra ser\u00e1 a\u00fan mayor: cerca de 14.000 personas que viven en las baleares podr\u00edan perder sus hogares y tener que mudarse al centro de la isla, o incluso a otra comunidad aut\u00f3noma o localizaci\u00f3n, si es que no pueden costearse una vivienda en estos territorios.<\/p>\n

Este documento activ\u00f3 la alerta sobre la vulnerabilidad de las costas de Balears frente a la situaci\u00f3n de emergencia clim\u00e1tica<\/strong>. Los investigadores analizaron cu\u00e1les hab\u00edan sido las consecuencias del cambio clim\u00e1tico en esta zona del Mediterr\u00e1neo: temperaturas m\u00e1s altas en invierno, olas de fr\u00edo como la \u201cFilomena\u201d, incremento de las noches tropicales y borrascas cada vez m\u00e1s agresivas.<\/p>\n

Los resultados del informe muestran que, si no actuamos de inmediato para frenar las emisiones GEI, Baleares perder\u00e1\u00a087 edificaciones\u00a0de forma permanente para 2050. Sin embargo, para 2100 el n\u00famero podr\u00eda ascender a m\u00e1s de 772 y un 80 % de la superficie de espacios naturales, como l’Albufereta de Pollen\u00e7a o l’Abufera de Mallorca, desaparecer\u00edan.<\/p>\n

Las praderas marinas del Mediterr\u00e1neo tienen un gran valor, no solo en t\u00e9rminos de biodiversidad, sino tambi\u00e9n de mitigaci\u00f3n del cambio clim\u00e1tico<\/strong>, pues permiten fijar y retener CO2 durante largos periodos de tiempo.<\/p>\n

Precisamente por estos motivos, desde hace a\u00f1os el Govern de les Illes Balears<\/strong> est\u00e1 impulsando el Atlas de la Posidonia Oce\u00e1nica, para identificar d\u00f3nde se encuentran este tipo de h\u00e1bitats marinos en las Islas Baleares. Mediante el uso de tecnolog\u00edas como el sonar de barrido lateral<\/strong> o las c\u00e1maras v\u00eda sat\u00e9lites logran detectar y analizar el estado de estos ecosistemas.<\/p>\n

El resultado de este an\u00e1lisis es una cartograf\u00eda con un alto nivel de detalle de la Posidonia oce\u00e1nica, que pueden utilizar los barcos pesqueros y embarcaciones tur\u00edsticas para evitar navegar cerca de ellas y da\u00f1arlas. A trav\u00e9s de la app \u201cPosidonia GOIB<\/strong><\/a>\u201d pueden consultar en qu\u00e9 zonas se encuentran estas algas y evitar acercarse a ellas.<\/p>\n

Pese a que el Govern est\u00e1 contribuyendo a la protecci\u00f3n de la Posidonia mediante iniciativas tecnol\u00f3gicas y el estudio de las mismas, no puede evitar que la temperatura del agua incremente a\u00f1o tras a\u00f1o y con ello, impacte de forma negativa en el desarrollo y la supervivencia de estas plantas.<\/p>\n

Como sucede con el coral y la flora que habitan las profundidades acu\u00e1ticas, al subir la temperatura global de la Tierra y, por ende, el de los mares, se cambia el medio natural de estas plantas que deben esforzarse para poder seguir cumpliendo con su funci\u00f3n de fotos\u00edntesis y\/o captura de Co2.<\/p>\n

El cambio clim\u00e1tico est\u00e1 teniendo consecuencias negativas para la mayor\u00eda de regiones y territorios que se encuentran pr\u00f3ximos a zonas costeras. La l\u00ednea del mar sigue subiendo a\u00f1o tras a\u00f1o poniendo en riesgo comunidades, ciudades e incluso pa\u00edses enteros.<\/p>\n

Por este motivo, es fundamental actuar cuanto antes y ser ZEO -cero emisiones-. Para evitar migraciones clim\u00e1ticas, da\u00f1os medioambientales o p\u00e9rdidas en la econom\u00eda (turismo, pesca u otras actividades econ\u00f3micas), debemos detener la subida del nivel del mar.<\/p>\n
