Durante la COP27, el secretario general de la ONU, Antonio Gut\u00e9rres alert\u00f3 de que \u201cnos acercamos al infierno clim\u00e1tico, a\u00fan con el pie en el acelerador\u201d.<\/p>\n
Y es que, pese a que en los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os la sociedad y la comunidad internacional se han puesto manos a la obra para frenar el cambio clim\u00e1tico, a\u00fan queda un largo camino por recorrer para lograr una sociedad ZEO -cero emisiones-,<\/strong> y prevenir las consecuencias del cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n Hace ya casi medio siglo, la mayor\u00eda de pa\u00edses se pusieron de acuerdo sobre la veracidad del cambio clim\u00e1tico y, en un intento por evitar sus consecuencias, se comprometieron a seguir unos objetivos comunes para reducir emisiones.<\/p>\n Las Naciones Unidas ha sido el principal organismo que ha estado luchando contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico. A lo largo de este tiempo, ha logrado importantes hitos como los Acuerdos de Montreal, el Protocolo de Kyoto o el Acuerdo de Par\u00eds<\/strong>. Sin embargo, los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os ser\u00e1n decisivos para evitar un punto de no retorno con respecto al calentamiento global.<\/p>\n En paralelo, deberemos hacer frente a retos como la crisis (1997), el primer compromiso internacional creado para reducir las emisiones de Gases de Efecto Invernadero (GEI) que causan el calentamiento global. En 2001 el documento hab\u00eda sido ratificado por m\u00e1s de 180 pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n Este fue un importante progreso para impulsar la conciencia clim\u00e1tica a nivel pol\u00edtico, pero que no logr\u00f3 los resultados esperados. Pese a los esfuerzos por parte de los pa\u00edses, los objetivos de reducci\u00f3n de emisiones y los mecanismos para combatirlo no fueron suficientemente ambiciosos.<\/p>\n Y es que, durante la primera d\u00e9cada del siglo XXI, especialmente en China, las emisiones GEI se dispararon. mecanismos para frenar el cambio clim\u00e1tico se activaron hace menos de una d\u00e9cada, la causa ra\u00edz de este problema, es decir, el calentamiento global de la Tierra, fue descubierto hace m\u00e1s de un siglo.<\/strong><\/p>\n En 1860 el f\u00edsico John Tyndall empez\u00f3 a investigar el efecto invernadero a partir de unos estudios e investigaciones previas llevadas a cabo por Eunice Foote<\/a>. A partir de estos documentos, Tyndall descubri\u00f3 que las mol\u00e9culas de gases como el di\u00f3xido de carbono, el metano y el vapor del agua eran capaces de bloquear la radiaci\u00f3n infrarroja, algo que no sucede con el ox\u00edgeno y el nitr\u00f3geno.<\/p>\n Entonces Tyndall lleg\u00f3 a la conclusi\u00f3n de que, cuando la radiaci\u00f3n del Sol llega a la Tierra, parte de la misma es absorbida por la superficie terrestre y se convierte en calor. Mientras que la otra es absorbida por los gases que se encuentran en la atmosfera (Gases de Efecto Invernadero), que la reemiten en todas direcciones, incluso de vuelta a la propia Tierra.<\/p>\n Adem\u00e1s, en Espa\u00f1a el calentamiento global ha sido de 1,5 \u00baC, mientras que, en el \u00c1rtico, la cifra asciende hasta los 5 \u00baC.<\/p>\n Pese a estas preocupantes cifras y los esfuerzos para activar la transici\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica y lograr una sociedad ZEO -cero emisiones-, en 2022 las emisiones GEI se incrementaron un 5,7% con respecto al a\u00f1o anterior.<\/strong> Sin embargo, esta cifra supone un 5,17% respecto al 1990 y un 31% menos respecto a 2005.<\/p>\n En 2022 el transporte por carretera aument\u00f3 sus emisiones un 3,3%, mientras que el sector energ\u00e9tico las incremet\u00f3 un 24%.
