En la actualidad,\u00a0cerca del 56% de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial vive en ciudades. Seg\u00fan el Banco Mundial, esta cifra aumentar\u00e1 hasta el 66% para 2050, lo que podr\u00eda suponer un aut\u00e9ntico problema para la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

Y es que las ciudades ocupan \u00fanicamente un 3% de la superficie terrestre, pero consumen cerca del 85% de los recursos naturales, utilizan entre 60 y 80% de la energ\u00eda consumida en el planeta y emiten a la atmosfera el 75% de los Gases de Efecto Invernadero (GEI)<\/strong> que provocan el calentamiento global de la Tierra.<\/p>\n

El Plan Fit for 55 de la Uni\u00f3n Europea propone \u201creducir un 55% las emisiones para 2020 y lograr la neutralidad clim\u00e1tica para 2050\u201d. Si queremos cumplir con los objetivos de reducci\u00f3n de emisiones propuestos por la comunidad internacional, debemos comenzar a descarbonizar nuestras ciudades<\/strong>, haci\u00e9ndolas m\u00e1s sostenibles y resilientes frente a las consecuencias del cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

Como respuesta a esta necesidad surgen las smart cities\u00a0o\u00a0ciudades inteligentes,<\/strong> un modelo de ciudad basado en la eficiencia, que busca el equilibrio entre personas, instituciones, tecnolog\u00eda y sostenibilidad.<\/p>\n

Las \u201cSmart Cities\u201d (ciudades inteligentes) o \u201cCiudades 4.0\u201d aprovechan el potencial de las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas o las Tecnolog\u00edas de la Informaci\u00f3n y la Comunicaci\u00f3n (TIC), para promover un desarrollo sostenible y mejorar la calidad de vida de la ciudadan\u00eda. Precisamente por ello, lograr la expansi\u00f3n de este tipo de ciudades podr\u00eda ser clave para la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n

En este sentido, del 7 al 9 de noviembre se ha celebrado la 12\u00aa edici\u00f3n del Smat City Expo World Congress en la Fira de Barcelona<\/strong>. En su mayor edici\u00f3n de la historia, esta feria de referencia a escala mundial ha congregado a miles de expositores y m\u00e1s de 25.000 profesionales de la industria de las \u201cSmart Cities\u201d.<\/p>\n

Inteligencia artificial, tecnolog\u00eda 5G, movilidad el\u00e9ctrica, econom\u00eda circular; Pero tambi\u00e9n, drones para emergencias, veh\u00edculos aut\u00f3nomos para realizar las entregas de \u00faltima milla, nuevos materiales de construcci\u00f3n sostenible o herramientas para gestionar datos con inteligencia artificial. Estos son algunos de los temas o productos que se han presentado en el Smart City Expo World Congress 2023.<\/p>\n

A lo largo de tres d\u00edas, esta feria en la que est\u00e1n representados m\u00e1s de 140 pa\u00edses, ha estado mostrando al mundo las m\u00faltiples soluciones que preparan las startups y empresas <\/strong>de todos los sectores econ\u00f3micos para afrontar los retos venideros. Han propuesto nuevas medidas y avances desde tres grandes pilares: vivienda, movilidad y econom\u00eda azul.<\/p>\n

Bajo el lema \u201cla nueva era urbana\u201d, este a\u00f1o han asistido al congreso cerca de 50 alcaldes de ciudades adscritos al Pacto Global de Alcaldes por el Clima y la Energ\u00eda, como Atenas, Bruselas, Budapest, Viena, Helsinki, Tallin o Par\u00eds. Todos ellos ten\u00edan una misi\u00f3n clara: mejorar sus Planes de Acci\u00f3n Clim\u00e1tica Local<\/a> y conocer las soluciones disponibles para lograr unas urbes m\u00e1s eficientes, verdes e inclusivas.<\/p>\n

Tambi\u00e9n han asistido al Smart City Expo 2023 algunos de referentes pol\u00edticos del \u00e1mbito municipal y auton\u00f3mico de Catalu\u00f1a, como el conseller de Empresa, Roger Torrent, la consellera de Territori, Ester Capella, el alcalde de Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, y el delegado del Gobierno en Catalunya, Carlos Prieto.<\/p>\n

Y es que dentro de este congreso ha tenido lugar una Cumbre de alcaldes europeos, presidida por Jaume Collboni, en la que los l\u00edderes municipales piden han solicitado estar m\u00e1s presentes en la elaboraci\u00f3n de pol\u00edticas europeas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Al finalizar la cumbre, los alcaldes han firmado una declaraci\u00f3n final en la que reclaman m\u00e1s participaci\u00f3n de las administraciones locales en el desarrollo de las pol\u00edticas de la Uni\u00f3n Europea. De hecho, como medida de adaptaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica a escala local, reclaman la creaci\u00f3n de nuevos instrumentos de gobernanza comunitarios dise\u00f1ados espec\u00edficamente para las ciudades. Estos instrumentos permitir\u00edan reforzar la relaci\u00f3n institucional entre las ciudades y la Comisi\u00f3n Europea y el Parlamento Europeo.<\/p>\n

Porque tal y como se\u00f1ala el alcalde de Barcelona, \u201cLa Uni\u00f3n Europea debe acercarse a los ciudadanos a trav\u00e9s de las ciudades como nivel de la administraci\u00f3n m\u00e1s pr\u00f3xima y eficaz a la hora de canalizar las pol\u00edticas con un impacto directo\u201d.<\/p>\n

A trav\u00e9s de una visi\u00f3n integrada y hol\u00edstica, las ciudades inteligentes pretenden reducir su impacto medioambiental, <\/strong>aumentando en paralelo su competitividad econ\u00f3mica y garantizando la seguridad para todos los ciudadanos.<\/p>\n

El concepto de \u201cciudad inteligente\u201d surgi\u00f3 en la d\u00e9cada de 1990 y principios del 2000 con la llegada de la tecnolog\u00eda moderna. En un principio se basaba en el uso de las tecnolog\u00edas de la informaci\u00f3n y comunicaci\u00f3n (TIC) para optimizar la operatividad de la ciudad y la prestaci\u00f3n de servicios en las \u00e1reas urbanas.<\/p>\n
