Si nos fijamos en la participaci\u00f3n de los personajes m\u00e1s notorios en la lucha por el clima<\/strong> encontramos a Al Gore, Leonardo Di Caprio, Vandana Shiva, Piers Foster, Katharine Hayhoe, Jeremy Rifkin, Naomi Klein, Harrison Ford, Jane Fonda, \u00a0o Gretha Thunberg<\/strong>. La lista cuenta con un n\u00famero cada vez m\u00e1s creciente de \u201ccelebridades\u201d cient\u00edficas, econ\u00f3micas, art\u00edsticas y activistas que intentan, d\u00eda a d\u00eda, convencer a la sociedad de la magnitud del cambio clim\u00e1tico, para conseguir la supervivencia de la humanidad y el planeta.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Todos ellos lo tienen muy claro: para lograr cumplir con el objetivo del Acuerdo de Par\u00eds (2015) de mantener por debajo de los 2\u00baC el incremento de la temperatura planetaria respecto a la \u00e9poca preindustrial, debemos llegar a una sociedad ZEO -cero emisiones-. Para conseguirlo es fundamental descarbonizar la econom\u00eda e invertir en una transici\u00f3n a la energ\u00eda y a la producci\u00f3n limpia.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ahora parece que todos estos cient\u00edficos, activistas, pol\u00edticos y l\u00edderes de opini\u00f3n lo tienen m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil para convencernos de la urgencia de actuar y tomar medidas<\/strong> para reducir los niveles de emisiones de la actividad humana. Pero hace ya m\u00e1s de un siglo, trescientos a\u00f1os despu\u00e9s de que Galileo Galilei, un astr\u00f3nomo e ingeniero italiano, convenciera finalmente a la humanidad de que la Tierra no era plana, la divulgaci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica no era tan f\u00e1cil como ahora.<\/strong><\/p>\n

En agosto de 1856 Eunice N.Foote present\u00f3 en la Octava Reuni\u00f3n Anual de la Asociaci\u00f3n Americana para el Avance de la Ciencia<\/strong> (AAAS) su informe \u201cCircunstancias que afectan la temperatura de los rayos del Sol\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n

En aquella \u00e9poca el acceso a la educaci\u00f3n y la igualdad de los derechos de las mujeres a\u00fan eran dos temas \u201ctab\u00fa\u201d para la sociedad americana. Por este motivo fue Joseph Henry<\/strong>, profesor de la Smithsonian Institution, quien present\u00f3 el trabajo de Foote ante el gran p\u00fablico de la AAAS.<\/p>\n

Pese a que Foote fue la primera cient\u00edfica en descubrir la atmosfera regula la temperatura global, y por ello deber\u00eda compartir t\u00edtulo con sus compa\u00f1eros Tyndall y Arrhenius como madre del cambio clim\u00e1tico, su<\/strong> apellido a\u00fan es desconocido entre los expertos que investigan el cambio clim\u00e1tico.<\/strong><\/p>\n
